Music rights to be freed up by the EU

Stores offering music downloads such as apple’s i-tunes could soon be able to operate one shop dedicated to the whole of Europe. Current different regulations apply and this is not possible and must be negotiated differently for different societies.

New ruling will also allow different societies to license music in more than one country.

The idea of the new proposals for the societies to compete against each other and end clauses in their cross-border contracts.
